Encouragement:: Letting Go

Hi, My name is Caryl and I'm a control freak.

I first came across this image earlier in the week over at vmac & cheese's blog (by the way - love Victoria's blog - you need to check it out).  There was something about it that really hit home for me.  With all the health issues happening with my Mom and Dad - the one thing we so desperately wanted was to control the situation.  Control the results, the information coming in, everything.  Funny thing was - we had absolutely no control.  The only thing my sister and I could control was being an advocate for our parents.

In business, it's so hard for me to let go and trust that things will get done.  Do you ever think, no one can do it better than I can?  With having to care for my parents over the last couple of weeks, I've had to "Learn to Let Go that Which I Couldn't Control."

I also had to rely on someone else to do parts of a job I was use to doing - GASP!
I had to let go of the little things - DOUBLE GASP!
I had to trust that the job was going to get done without me double checking - TRIPLE GASP!

But you know what?  Everything flowed...everything worked out...I survived - I let go.

I'm actually quite proud of myself.  The world didn't come to an end.  Instead I've gained new partners.

So your challenge is to let go that which you can't control.  Don't sweat the small stuff.  Life is too short - enjoy!
