What's In Your Carry-On: Derek Lo

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I'm excited to be sharing what's important to a guy when he travels.  You've seen all these great items that gals want to bring with them.  Now it's time to get a guys perspective.  So today we have Derek Lo of Lo & Sons.  He is one of the masterminds behind some amazing bags (carry-on bags that is).  I guess you could say, he knows how to pack a bag efficiently and with style.

When I travel, I use our (1) Cambridge Tote.  It's great because it can hold my laptop and all of my must-haves.

I love technology and how it enables convenience and enriches my life, so when I travel my must-haves usually are these 5 things:

(2) iPad - gotta have for watching movies or reading magazines on the flight

(3) Jawbone Jambox - this is a great bluetooth portable audio solution if you're traveling to the beach or even just in your hotel room

(4) Braun electric shaver series 7 - must stay well groomed, so I never leave behind my Braun electronic shaver

(5) Jays 1+ earphones - tangle free and compact.  I hate carrying large headphones while traveling because they're so bulky and inconvenient

(6) Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 - this compact camera packs a big punch.  With a Leica lens and a much more compact body than a DSLR, it's my perfect travel must-have

What's In Your Carry-On: A little video of mine

This week I thought I would do something a bit different.  I'm traveling and at an event for a client and thought I would do a little video and show you what's in my carry-on bag for this trip.  Everytime I travel, there are different things I bring, based on the trip and the purpose.  This time, I'm in Chicago for a tradeshow.

This is my first video, so please be kind.  I filmed the video on my iPhone using the 8mm app.  I have to thank my little mister who helped me via a Skype call last night to put this little beauty together.  Oh by the way - he's E.L.E.V.E.N.  We used iMovie.  He would have rathered Final Cut Pro - but he is way more advanced than moi.

Let me know if you think I should do more videos.

What's In Your Carry-On with Victoria McGinley

I first met Victoria McGinley of vmac & cheese online prior to heading to the ALT Summit in Salt Lake City.  I was so excited to connect with another blogger in the bay area.  Oh and I absolutely loved the name of her blog.  Anyone who knows me, knows of my obsession with mac and cheese.

Well Victoria graduated a few years back from culinary school and she is one super duper chef.  Her blog not only talks about food (and there are some super yummy recipes up there), but also her savvy style.

She is getting married in a few months so she's got lots of trips planned.  Lake Tahoe twice, Houston, New York, and France (for the honeymoon).  Her bag is gonna be packed.

1. Lo & Sons bag -- I just got the OG bag and even though I haven't traveled with it, using it to cart all my junk around town has been amazing. I have FIVE out of town trips this summer, and I'm convinced this bag will basically save my life.
2. Purell and mini-Lysol spray -- Swear that I am not a huge germophobe typically, but last year, a co-worker sent me this article and I was completely disgusted. I can barely touch the seat tray these days.
3. The other thing? Getting work done. Nothing like having your laptop and wifi at 30,000 feet if you wanna power through that inbox!
4. Avene Thermal Spring Water spray -- It refreshes parched skin, reactivates makeup, and just feels plum delightful. They make these mini versions too that are carry-on friendly!
5. Nook Color -- An e-reader is a must! Air travel is fantastic for two things. Getting lost in a book with no one to bother you is one of them.
6. Roller perfume -- Good for a long flight when you're in desperate need of a shower...also convenient when the person next to you is in desperate need of a shower.
Thanks for popping by Victoria.

What's In Your Carry-On with Kim Stoegbauer

Please welcome Kim Stoegbauer from The Tomkat Studio.  I first met Kim on twitter when she was contemplating hiring her first employee.  Now look at this lady go!  She's a mama to two gorgeous kids, wife and uber savvy business lady.

Most recently, Kim and her fabulous team have teamed up with Pottery Barn Kids to showcase different party theme ideas.  Her Time to Grow Party (oh by the way is in the latest pbkids catalog too) and Young Explorer Party are just darling.  I love all the details.

If that doesn't keep her busy enough - she's also opened her own online party supply shop.  All the goodies coordinate to well with all of her party printables.

Kim has been jetsetting to the Bay Area for some pbkids shoots so I asked her what her must haves are for traveling on business.  Love love love the yellow Marc Jacobs bag and of course you always need something sweet and sour - sour patch kids of course.

1. Marc Jacobs Bag 2. Canon xTi Camera & lens 3. Sour Patch Kids 4. Sony Vaio Laptop 5. Jonathan Adler Notebook 6. Uniball pen 7. Kate Spade iPhone Case

What's In Your Carry-On with Melissa Sanchez

Today I'm happy to welcome Melissa from Savvy in San Francisco to the blog.  I first met Melissa at a pre-Altitude Design Summit "how to get ready for the amazing experience we were going to have" webinar.  Ha!  That's the best way to put it.  It was so nice to meet her in person in Salt Lake City and then again at a post-ALT meet up.

Melissa is an amazing photographer, lifestyle blogger and mama to three adorable little chicklets.  I absolutely love her wordless wednesdays posts - photos that she's taken that just capture the emotion of the moment.

When I was looking through Melissa's 5 must-haves...it was really scary how much we are alike.  I saw the Tieks shoes and laughed because those are my go-to shoes for events or doing tons of walking.  And the Louie bag - ummm, only use it everyday to lug all my stuff around (and it fits my laptop).

Without further adio - Ms. Melissa from Savvy in San Francisco.

You're headed on vacation - where would you want to go?

Anywhere in Europe makes me happy, but if I had to choose, it would have to be Paris! It's my favorite city in the world! I have been there three times including my first trip there for my thirtieth birthday where my husband proposed to me on the tip of Ile Saint-Louis.  We would definitely be leaving the three little ones at home with my parents since they are a little too young to start exploring Europe with us.  I also think it is good for Mommy & Daddy to have some "us" time too!

What carry-on bag would you bring?

I love my Louis Vuitton Neverfull MM bag!  I use it almost everyday as a purse/diaper bag with my PishPosh baby insert, but for a travel bag, it's great.  I am able to fit so many items in it since it doesn't close at the top.

What would be the 5 things that you would have to have?

Since I'm a photographer, I definitely would have to have my camera with me, a pair (or two) of Tieks is a must with how much walking you do while in Paris and I love that you can carry them folded in your purse and pull them out when your feet have had enough, a fabulous summer scarf to keep you warm on the plane and keep the chill away at night while walking along the River Seine and of course my iPhone to capture all of those Instagram moments.
