We made it to Fifteen Eleven

We hopped on the water taxi again today...back to Old Town Alexandria.  The one store that I wanted to go to this entire trip is in Alexandria.  When we went on Wednesday, I knew that we wouldn't have enough time for me to really check out the store.

We got on one of the free trolley's that Old Town offers and headed up King Street.  Ever since Fifteen Eleven opened, I've been dying to go...and I mean dying to go.  I'm such a paper junkie and Suann of Simple Song Design is an amazing stationer, designer and the owner of Fifteen Eleven.  I've been a stalker - oops I mean follwer of her's on Pinterest and her blog for a long time.  Her work is so elegant yet modern.  To me, it's simply stunning.  I can't wait to call her to say, "I have a client that needs some invitations and you're the gal that needs to design them!"  You can check her out more here.

When I walked into her store, I was truly like a kid in a candy store.  To say I was excited about the possibility of meeting her was an understatement.  Guess what? I met her and she was so sweet.  Turns out she was from the bay area originally.  It was so nice chatting with her.  The mister and little mister enjoyed themselves too.

Of course I couldn't leave empty handed.  More on that in another post.

But today was the last day of vacation.  The boys head back to California tomorrow and I stay and work begins.  The schedule for the day: the water taxi back over to Alexandria so I could fulfill my paper dreams, played at the pool and just chilled.  It was nice not to have a packed day.  We've had such a wonderful time in DC.  Wedidn't get to see everything so we've already started our list of places to see for our next visit.

The Water Taxi to Alexandria

Yesterday we headed out of downtown Washington DC, leaving all the monuments behind.  We were off to National Harbor to the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.  It was nice to get out of the city.

National Harbor is about 5 years hold.  There are so many shops and restaurants around.  Kind of nice that you don't have to eat in the hotel and there are tons of options within walking distance.  They even have a Peeps store here.  Saw it from the water taxi...I will definitely have to check it out.

The weather yesterday was incredible.  Blue sky - yes thats right, blue sky.  The sunset was gorgeous.  I must have taken 50 pictures of the sunset.

Had to do a little work when we got to the hotel, but then we headed down to the water taxi (there is a Pier right at the hotel) to take a little trip over to Old Town Alexandria.  Such a cute, quaint town.  We stopped at Pop's Ice Cream.  Oh my word - the best ice cream.  I almost died when I tried their cheesecake.  We went for the cookie's and cream and it didn't disappoint.

The amazing sunset from last night.
